Our department aims to meet the learning needs of students and help students learn not only the skills for medical laboratory science but also to have abundant basic knowledge of biomedicine. We also provide elective courses for practical purpose and for cultivating humanistic literacy. We encourage students to participate in intercollegiate and international learning activities. Programs, minor subjects and a direct master’s entry program program allow students to choose a variety of learning plans. Students are provided with resources containing books, audio-visual and information facilities, laboratories, specialist classrooms, and other software and hardware facilities. All of these are used and maintained to establish a quality learning environment. At the same time, we help with things of enrollment and graduation qualifications, the learning process, scholarships, work-study, tutor helping, teaching assistants and other administrative and learning services. Mentors actively guide students to academic life, career development, and early warning systems and remedial teaching, help with learning difficulties classmates. Teachers can take full advantage of diverse teaching and assessment methods, teach and evaluate students' learning situation, design appropriate learning program, and there is a clear learning standards; at the same time providing the necessary extra-curricular student learning guidance and counseling, and according to the individual student’s feedback and learning differences to provide appropriate materials, increasing the breadth and depth of the student's learning, so that students have a good academic performance in a variety of internal and external competition. Visiting teaching hospitals, national test counseling and various lectures and seminars in the workplace, enable students to be aware of the workplace of the future and make full preparations. Ratio of advisers to graduate students is appropriate, enabling professors to have sufficient time to study and guide the students to participate in academic activities.

Our undergraduate education goals are: 1. Cultivate students with competence to the knowledge of medical laboratory science and management. 2. Inspire students with enthusiasm for the basic and applied knowledge of medical biotechnology. 3. Instill students with high standards of performance on clinical affiliates and biotechnology industries. We are a department of medical laboratory science with an emphasis on biotechnology education, which guide our curriculum planning concept. Our general education and common core curriculum are inclusive of intelligent and humane education. These are basic medical courses, medical laboratory courses, courses in biotechnology, innovation lab sessions, connecting between school and workplace. These six groups of courses are to meet the needs to cultivate the kills for professional medical laboratory science and clinical laboratory management and inspire students with interest in biomedical and biological science and technology. Since we aim not only in fostering professionals with excellence of medical laboratory science, but also hope to train talented research personnel for the future to be able to respond to national development needs for developing biotechnology. So in the course, we not only pay attention to subjects for medical technology specialist, and also emphasize on biomedical basic and applied science fields. In addition, to meet the students multifaceted curiosity, the department also set up elective courses for practical purpose and social disciplines for humanistic literacy cultivation.

In the wake of prompt development in clinical treatment and molecular biology, considerable quantities of experts in advanced medical technology and biotechnology will be demanded.Our graduate program was established in 2005 for the purpose of nurturing students to become the foreseeable, versatile, and well manufacture-experienced internationalexpertsofmedical laboratory science and biotechnology. The teaching Goals of graduate program are: 1. To enhance the medical biotechnology ability in clinical medicine and promote industrial Biotechnology skills in biological science. 2. To train graduate students to be able to explore the scientific research. 3. To foster graduate students in the transition from professional knowledge and performance to innovation in the medical science and biotechnology industry. Based on the reason for innovation and application in medical laboratory technology and industrial biotechnology, four serial graduate regiments of courses were established, including advanced medical technology courses, advanced Industrial biotechnology courses, specific research topics courses, and innovative manipulation courses. To improve the English communication and international sense, visiting professor 盧仲達, from MolecularGenetics & Biochemistry department of Georgia State University, was invited and gives the course named “ Research methods and strategies for medical biotechnology”. The course wins acceptance and is popular for graduate students every year.
